Fasting And Weight Loss

Many people have found that fasting for weight loss is a futile exercise. Additionally, if you are under the care of a doctor for any reason, you should first check with him to see if it’s okay to be going on fasting diets.

You need to be aware that when you undertake any fasting and weight loss diets, your body simply dumps accumulated water and uses muscle as fuel for your activities. When you stop fasting you will regain water and the extra weight you put on will probably be fat instead of the muscle tissue you lost. The one main objection to fasting diets is you can’t keep them up. Nobody can continue weight loss cleansing indefinitely. If you eat a simple but healthy diet your body will do its job of building up muscle and keeping your system healthy.

Rather than go on fasting diets, you could try eating five or six smaller meals every day. The meals should contain vegetables, fruit, some kind of protein, and water. You should also be making sure that you drink around six glasses of water each day. A minimum of three times a week, do some running, swimming or bike riding. Some weight training should ensure that you lose weight in the form of fat instead of muscle.

If we consider the “detox” part of your diet, most doctors say that you do not need cleaning out because the idea that you are full of toxins is not true. Your colon cleans itself out and your lungs, kidneys and liver cleanse poisons from your body because it’s their job to do so.

According to mainstream medicine, many of the fasting and weight loss diet recipes you see in books or online, such as the weight loss lemonade or juice fasting weight loss diets, are likely to make you damage yourself rather than make you healthy. If you want to feel that you are cleaning yourself out, drink lots of water. But even that can be harmful if done to extremes. A diet of about eighteen hundred calories a day of nutritious foods plus a decent amount of exercise will make sure you will be able to keep control of your weight.

If you try juice fasting, weight loss will definitely follow but you must confine yourself to freshly squeezed juice preferably made at home with your own juicer. For casual use a juicer is not a great asset. They need thorough cleaning after each use and they take up room in your kitchen shelves. But if you are serious about maintaining your own health, a juicer is a vital piece of equipment.

Toxins are supposed to be stored in body fat so if you attempt juice fasting, weight loss will have an added advantage in the form of losing stored poisons with excess fat.

If you are curious about the lemon detox diet, or lemonade diet, just try incorporating it in your daily meals. Citrus juice in general helps your body to slow the digestion of carbohydrates. So drinking lemonade with your meals will slow down the reaction of your body to the carbs you have just consumed.
